After completing these trainings you will take your final exam, graduate and receive your QCTO accredited Certificate. We will then support you with Job Placement at one of our more than 80 Hospitality & Tourism partners.

WORK READINESS TRAINING

4 weeks

The highly recognised Cooktastic Work-Readiness-Training has been developed as answer to a striking problem for employers: “Many of South African youth are due to difficult context dynamics not ready to cope with the requirements of a professional workplace!” So, this very specific training and continued mentoring will help you to really be READY FOR WORK!

BASIC CULINARY TRAINING

10 weeks

The 10 weeks Cooktastic Basic Culinary Training, technically seen – will provide you with the theoretical and practical know how for entry level employment in the Hospitality & Tourism sector. This training will be done at the Cooktastic state-of-the-art kitchen, facilitated by one of our top Culinary lecturers. All equipment and ingredients needed for training will be provided.

  • Purchase, Menu Planning & Costing
  • Health & Nutrition
  • Environmental awareness (purchase, waste management,..)
  • International & African kitchen – in up-to-date interpretation
  • Correct measuring, weighing and following recipes
  • Meat, Poultry and Offal
  • Fish and Shellfish Dishes
  • Fruit and Vegetable Dishes
  • Eggs, Pasta, Rice and Starch Dishes
  • Sauces, Soups and Stocks
  • Hot and cold Desserts
  • Cakes, Biscuits, Pastry and Breads
  • Basic Customer Service
  • Basic Barrista Training

  • Basics of Bakery

WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING

8 weeks

Finally, you will get your first practical experience in a professional hospitality workplace. 8 to 12 weeks Work-Integrated Learning at one of our around 80 hospitality partners* – in a hotel, restaurant, industrial kitchen or fine dining establishment. We place you in a kitchen that is best suited to your personality and skills observed during your in-house training.

If you are doing well, you will have a great chance to get your first employment at this (or another) venue.
